In Valais, Savagnin blanc goes by the name of heida or païen. It is also found in the French Jura, where it is used to make yellow wines. It also exists in Alsace under the name of traminer. In France, its presence has been confirmed since the 16th century, but it seems to have been around long before that.
This heida comes from the famous Tour De Goubing estate, an emblematic figure in the town of Sierre.
