Aperitif wine par excellence, it also goes wonderfully with raclette or a good fondue.
In Valais, Chasselas has kept its old name of fendant. This is due to the fact that the ripe berry cracks under the pressure of the fingers.
Arriving in Valais in the 19th century, fendant is the canton’s main white grape variety.
